There’s no joy in job hunting, and it’s something we all experience at some point in our lives. Unfortunately, stress muddies the job hunt for most of us and can make it hard to assess opportunities clearly. Finding the perfect position, at a good company, with great co-workers, at the right pay, and the desired hours can sometimes feel like the impossible. Not to mention, finding a position that you are passionate about, or even a job that you enjoy for that matter, can really seem like an elusive feat. So does the perfect job really exist? And if so, is it going to lead you down to your desired career bliss?
The perfect job exists in a perfect world. It’s pretty much a given at this point in your life that you have learned there is no such thing as perfect. There is no perfect job or company out there for you. The job comes with the good, the bad, and the ugly. The reality is you are never going to like every co-worker you sit next to. There will be moments when you feel the pay isn’t fair. You are going to wish management acted differently in certain situations, and the painful list will continue throughout the years. However, the difference lies in your perspective, your attitude, and in allowing yourself the courage to do the work you truly enjoy. Now before you overwhelm yourself, the key here is to start small and build momentum. Let’s break it down…
Finding joy in your job can sometimes feel like a hopeless dream.
On average we spend one third of our life working, and another third sleeping. That leaves us with less than 35% of time to do the things that we long to do in our lives. And for most of us, that must be done outside of work, because our jobs are not fulfilling.
In fact, a statistic from Deloitte’s Shift Index says that 80% of people are dissatisfied with their jobs.
The standards of our society teach us to chase the money, to find a secure job, to work for a company that provides great insurance, etc. But if that’s not bringing us joy, then why are we chasing it?
I am a firm believer in doing something that truly brings you joy. As a result, the rest will fall into place. Typically you are best at the work you enjoy the most. The enthusiasm not just for your job, but for your life, will affect your performance at work and how others perceive you. This is a recipe for bringing in more money and building your job security. This is the momentum that I mentioned earlier.
So what do you do with this momentum? Whatever you want! The great news is that in today’s day and age, we are much more accepting of non-traditional careers paths. This means that unconventional jobs are becoming more popular as society continues to accept “different” ways of earning income. The pressure to go to college and work a typical 9-5 job isn’t as prevalent and rigid as in recent years. It’s okay to be a freelance artist, photographer, fashionista, hairstylist, personal trainer, coach, blogger, musician, entrepreneur…you name it!
Make that leap, and follow your dreams—even if it means losing sight of your comfort zone. Choose what you love; something that excites you everyday – dreaded Monday’s will be a thing of the past. Always remember that perfect does not exist, but joy in the workplace is something you can create for yourself. Find what you love and embrace life’s journey.

This is so Tru!
This reminds me of one of Albert Einsten’s quote “try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a man of value”
Know your worth, success will follow💞
Thank you for the inspiration A&L!
Ain’t that the truth! Love that quote 🙂
