Feeling motivated to make fitness a part of your life can feel like an ugly uphill battle. We’ve put together a list to help remind you that getting fit is not as hard as it seems. Before you can say that you don’t have the time or money – we are here to tell you that you have options for easily accessible and affordable (even free) ways to shed that unhealthy and limiting lifestyle.
1. Buy New Workout Gear
This may come off as superficial, but sporting new workout gear can really have an effect on your motivation to get off your tush. When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good…wait for it…you have more energy to do stuff like go the gym. And if you don’t like the gym, the good news can be found in step number two 😉
2. Workout at Home…for Free
There are endless options for at home workouts that you can find YouTube. Most of the workout series that you can search online require no equipment and can be done at any hour. This is a really convenient option for those of you that have irregular/packed schedules. Some of our favorite free videos can be found on the YouTube Channel: Fitness Blender.
3. Attend Classes
If boredom is creeping into your exercise routine, then switch it up with some fun classes. If you belong to a gym, take full advantage of your membership and participate in any of their many classes. Classes are fun and engaging, you sometimes even forget that you’re working out. If you don’t belong to a gym, you can sign up for deals on Groupon or even pay as you go where you’re not committed to a long term contract.
4. Hire a Personal Trainer
Having a personal trainer is like having a workout buddy…a really intense buddy that you pay and who won’t put up with your excuses. If you have the funds, we highly recommend hiring a personal trainer. They are certified fitness experts that know what they’re talking about and can help you get in the best shape of your life. Funny side story for you, we have a friend that works out with a trainer. Her trainer had her on the treadmill when he noticed the McDonald’s golden “M” on her water bottle. Busted. We all know where she was for lunch. Lesson learned here: be sure to cover your tracks, people 😉
5. Get 5 Days of Personal Training with TruZest for FREE

6. Find a Workout Buddy
If you don’t feel comfortable attending a class by yourself or if you just need that extra push – enlisting a friend to hold you accountable can do wonders. Find a schedule that works for the both of you and commit to it. Of course life happens and you can’t make a session, that’s ok. Make sure to reschedule and you and your friend will be back on track. Plus it’s always fun to try new activities and poke fun at yourself with a friend. Have fun with it!
7. Reward Yourself
Rewarding yourself is effective as it is appealing. We recommend that you reward yourself with little things on a weekly basis. Whether it’s buying something new to wear (see # 1) or downloading that new workout music, rewarding yourself is an important way to keep yourself on your track with your fitness goals. If your idea of a reward is with a tasty treat, be sure it’s a ‘cheat meal’ and not ‘cheat day’…my achilles heel.
Uncover your zest!
